What this tool does

Pricing a website is guesswork until you've named the work type, the platform and the features. This calculator walks you through those choices and returns an indicative range, not a false-precise single figure, because early on the honest answer is a bracket. It's the same lower/upper model ScopeDeck uses in a real Quote, where the range narrows to one agreed number as the scope firms up.

Use it to sense-check a budget, frame a first conversation with a client, or decide whether a project is worth pursuing before you invest time in a full quote.

What you tell it

  • Work type, an information site (brochure/marketing), an ecommerce site (an online

store), or a project / additional functionality (a bespoke build or a feature on an existing site). This sets the baseline.

  • Platform, Payload, WordPress / WooCommerce, Magento 2, Shopify, or Shopify Headless with

Payload. Platform choice moves both the baseline and which features are relevant.

  • Features, toggles for the things that move the price: number of page templates, catalogue

size, payments and checkout, integrations, content migration, multi-language, accessibility target, and so on. Each toggle adjusts the range.

What you get

  • An indicative range, e.g. £9,500 – £12,800, updating live as you change inputs, free, no

email required to see it.

  • A short breakdown of what's driving the number, so it's a conversation starter, not a black

box.

  • A formatted quote to download, a tidy PDF/Markdown summary of your selections and the range,

ready to adapt. This download is email-gated: enter an email to receive the formatted quote.

[Dev note: interactive widget to build] Build a client-side estimator. Inputs: (1) workType selector, information | ecommerce | project; (2) platform dropdown, payload | woocommerce | magento2 | shopify | shopify-headless, options filtered/weighted by workType; (3) a set of feature toggles / steppers (page-template count, catalogue-size band, payments & checkout, integrations count, content migration, multi-language, accessibility target, etc.), each with a weight. Output: an indicative lower/upper range computed as baseline(workType, platform) + Σ(feature weights), then presented as a rounded bracket (mirror ScopeDeck's Quote-range model, show a lower/upper bracket, never a single false-precise figure). Range visible immediately, no auth. Email gate only on the "Download formatted quote" action (PDF/Markdown of the selections + range). Keep all weights in a single config object so pricing is tunable without code changes. Add a persistent disclaimer: indicative only, not a formal quote. On submit, offer a deep link to start the same scope in ScopeDeck pre-seeded with the chosen work type and platform.

An estimate is a starting point, not a quote

A calculator can't see your client's messy product data, the integration that turns out to be undocumented, or the three extra approval rounds a committee will want. That's why the number is a range, and why it comes with a disclaimer.

The way you turn an indicative range into a figure you can stand behind is to write the scope: name what's in and what's out, cap the revisions, and set a contingency. That's precisely what ScopeDeck is for, and what our free templates help you do by hand.

Turn your estimate into a real quote in ScopeDeck

When you're ready to commit to a number, build the scope properly. In ScopeDeck you start work with the same work type and platform you picked here, and the right sections appear pre-shaped. Live pricing shows a rounded lower/upper bracket that narrows to one agreed figure, and when the client says yes the scope promotes into a specification and delivery tasks, no re-typing.
